New Classes!

Our amazing teachers have a bunch of new classes for beginners &
experienced quilters. There's something for everyone!

Jen's Strip Tube Basics Class is on the calendar for April!
It could be modern or not - choose you fabric & layout accordingly.

Sheri has a new one for you. This Bargello Butterfly is just gorgeous in batiks - did I mention
I have a TON of new batiks?
You'll learn the basic bargello technique in a small project.

Karen has created this Monogram Initial Wall Hanging for you. You'll learn fusible applique techniques using Hot Ribbon in this beautiful piece. You may just end up making one for everyone on your gift list...are you thinking about Mother's Day yet???

I love this Tissue Box Cover. I saw one on Pinterest, but there was no pattern.
So I showed it to Karen & 2 days later she brought this down to the shop!
She's amazingly talented.
Here's another great small gift idea...Mother's Day...teacher gift...baby sitter...hostess gift...

Sheri has been madly working on the Tulip Festival Block of the Month. These blocks are gorgeous! Her class is monthly on a Sunday afternoon, & you can join in any time.
We have just a few left, so if you're thinking about joining, don't ponder too long!

Have you always marveled at Stack N Whack quilts?
Karen will show you a quick 4 Patch version that is just beautiful.
I love to see what different kaleidoscope blocks can be made from the same fabric.

Don't forget Patricia Pepe's X-Blocks Class! She will be in the shop teaching her techniques with her tools & her Penelope Pattern on Monday, April 15. We're usually closed, but we're so lucky to have her stay over from the Quilt Show to teach at Calico Mermaid.

...and then we have some great ideas for you in the shop. Stop in to see what's new.

Come see us on the Shop Hop May 3-5!

X-Blocks' Patricia Pepe - Quilt Queen!

I'm so excited!
Patricia Pepe, X-Blocks designer, will be at Calico Mermaid on Monday, April 15!

Her gorgeous just samples arrived & you're going to LOVE them!!!!

She will show us how to use her tools & make lots of different designs from each tool.
The Penelope Pattern is so versatile - just choose your block/tool size & the size of your project.

You can choose to make a table runner with little blocks, or big blocks for a full on quilt!
It's like a "Choose Your Own Adventure!"

This is the Penelope Pattern we'll be learning from Patricia! We're so lucky to have her visit. I can hardly wait. (Did I say that already?!)
The class is filling up, so reserve your space soon.
It's 10-4 on April 15.
We're usually closed on Mondays, so we'll have a little more space than on regular business days.
Call 559 793 2510 to sign up!

Spring Break!

Calico Mermaid was invited to the Kings River Quilt Guild Retreat at Wonder Valley last weekend. What a great way to kick off my Spring Break!

These gals were so busy & productive the whole 4 days!

Here's Kathy, modeling her new tote. Guess what color? Lime, of course!

Julie puts on a great retreat. She made Richard feel welcome with sunflower seeds - his favorite!
I love the package - "Eat, Spit, Be happy."

It was wonderful to meet so many new quilty friends.
I think quilters are some of the most generous folks you could find anywhere. Almost everyone was working on a gift (or gifts) for someone special.
Everyone is so creative! I love to see what everyone comes up with!

I REALLY love seeing what people make with our fabric.

I tried to keep up with the camera, but they kept me busy cutting fabric while they were finishing project after project!
