October's here & I'm feeling the crunch. We have new fabric in the shop, lots of classes going on every waking moment...
& big plans for the rest of the year!
Watch for our Christmas Clams, Holiday Open House, & lots more fun. Stay tuned!!
Last Thursday we had a beautiful reception for the artists. The show is amazing. My photos aren't, so you really need to go see their work.

RECEPTION FOR THE ARTISTS: Thursday, October 6th, 5 – 7 pm at the Porterville College Art Gallery. Reception sponsored by Calico Mermaid.
GALLERY HOURS: Monday – Thursday from 11 – 1 pm and 5 – 7 pm
The public is invited to see an exhibition of nontraditional quilts by local artists. The reception is for Thursday evening, October 6th, from 5-7 pm. These artists will be showing through non-traditional materials and methods, quilts that express their passions and their love for the quilting medium. The 17 artists in this exhibition display a broad range of subjects and a wide array of approaches to the quilting. The show will run from October 3rd to October 20th. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 11 to 1 pm & 5 to 7 pm.

We're so excited to announce our Iris Festival Challenge. Porterville's annual Iris Festival is April 28, 2012, so we're sponsoring a challenge to all quilters - young & old, beginners & experienced. You can pick up your Anthology batik fat quarter along with a copy of the rules & your entry form at the shop (until we run out!) ;)
The Porterville Chamber of Commerce will be judging the wall hangings for us & the winner receives a $50 gift card from the shop. So come & join us. It will be a lot of fun to see what different ideas everyone comes up with. We may even help you find a buyer for your work.
Here's a copy of the official rules:
