Vacation time!

We just returned from a dreamy vacation to Beqa Lagoon in Fiji. As a surprise, our son & daughter in law showed up at the airport & joined us on the scuba diving trip!
It was wonderful to have them with us.
Here's our resort from the water.

This is our bure on the island...

and this is our ocean view from the porch.

We spent every morning scuba diving, & one afternoon I walked around the resort taking pics to share with you. The grounds are beautiful.

Here are a few pics Richard took underwater...we found Nemo!

The colors are amazing!

Here I am waving underwater - not my most photogenic look - but I yam what I yam!

Here's one of our Fiji sunsets.

So now we're back at the shop - we have lots of fun planned for you this summer!

How does our fabric get so beautiful anyway?

Have you ever wondered about fabric production?

Check out this link:

It's amazing to see how fabric is made from start to finish. The artistic process is mind-boggling.

School's Out for Summer!

School's out & it's time for a little sewing fun before we leave on vacation.
It's too hot outside (106 yesterday) to do much else, so I'm working on my niece's wedding quilt. I'm only a little behind, since her wedding was 2 months ago...

After a little laundry, a little organizing, a little cooking, a little (very little ;) ) straightening up the house, it's time to sew.

I love chain piecing, but I'm not fond of squaring up.
It's so scary...what if I trim a little too much...what if I slip...what if I don't get the block centered properly...I have visions of botching up all the blocks.

This pattern is an old stand by - BQ2 by Maple Island Quilts. It's perfect for large prints.
