My customers & employees are the best!

Even though I've been swamped at school, trying to keep everything going as best I can, some things have to just slide for a little bit - like this blog. Sorry about that.
But I'm caught up for now & our quilty friends have been busy creating & playing - just look!

I love when our friends bring their work & say, "Look what I made!" It makes me so proud to know they found exactly what they needed at my shop. Everyone of these projects used my shop fabric,  patterns, & books. They're all so talented!

Cathy's Carpenter Star from Sheri's class

 Rae Lynne's butterfly

Check out the details!
Trish's Christmas Heart Lights Tree from Margaret's class.

Jenny & Cathy enjoyed the Bring Your Own Bag class - everyone chooses a different purse pattern.

 This is Jenny's fall runner.
Jaime has been busy - check out his Jinny Beyer vest!
Dion is going to teach this no-sew crocheted rag rug in October.

Margaret made these adorable YoYo Trees. She'll be teaching the class in October, too.

Laura made this adorable quilt for a little someone special - it's all shirts & pockets from her little clothes! How clever is that?! It's pretty much a T Shirt quilt made from a little person's clothes. Great idea!

Autumn Wishes

So here we are, it's still over 90 degrees outside, & we're wishing fall would hurry up.

We have a ton of gorgeous fall fabric in now. If the temperatures would just give us a bit of a break, all would be grand.

My sample elves have been working overtime!

Look at what my amazing Sample Elves have been working on. They are simply fabulous! I'm so lucky to have such talented quilty friends.

This is Spirit of Christmas from Marcus Brothers. Rae Lynne made this gorgeous Christmas quilt with a soft reproduction feel. We have kits available & all the coordinating fabric from which to choose for backing. I love the stripey wallpaper print border, don't you?

Look at Color My World from RJR Fabrics. Nancy did a beautiful job on this sample, & the kits are ready to go. It's a big one - 90" X 90."
Check out those amazing brights! Come see it in person.

Here's Tulip Festival from Benartex, with a gorgeous paper pieced pattern from Animas Quilts. It's a Block of the Month you'll love. Sheri has made the sample & may even have classes if you're interested. We'll be kicking this one off in October. Watch the website for information on registration for the BOM.

Vacation!

We've thoroughly enjoyed our summer in the shop, but it's coming to an end. It was great to stay up late, then go open the shop at an hour much later than our usual school day. It was wonderful to spend more time with our customers - I even got to teach a few classes!

You may already know we spent some time away in Maui, visiting with family & friends. It was an especially sweet time, knowing our Mermaid Crew was handling everything just fine without us. No worries.
Here are a few highlights of our trip-

This is the beautiful view from our lanai. We went snorkeling out there, just beyond the boat.

I love all the flowers & plants growing everywhere.

My favorite island breakfast: coconut muffins from the local market.

My favorite day in Maui is a day underwater. Here we are scuba diving with the world's most patient turtle. (I'm the one with the blue fins.) She waited until we were happily posed before she'd had enough of us & swam away.

Here's a BIG lobster rooming with a very small shark under a ledge.

OK. Don't make fun, but this is me scuba diving on a scooter! It was such fun!

This lovely octopus came out as we swam away, then hid every time he thought we were looking.

Here's another turtle, just chilling on the sandy ocean floor.

Our weather was beautiful, but a little stormy-looking one evening on the beach at a Pau Hana with new friends & friends we don't get to see often enough.
(This is what we look like on dry land.)

This could be a mountain lake, but it's the Pacific from the slope of Haleakala.

Our last morning was complete at Hard Rock Cafe with Willie K & lunch.
Aloha!
I feel much better, having my dose of salt water. We'll be back...

Our quilty friends have been busy!

Our quilty friends at the Mermaid have had a busy summer! Take a look at some of their latest projects.

Some are new quilters, some are new to sewing. Some are busy taking classes & then practicing at home. Some are preparing to teach classes.

Some are experienced experts, but they're all having a great time & exploring their creative energies. And that's what it's all about! I just love when they come to the shop & share their projects.

Summertime explosion

I don't know what comes over me as I order new fabric for summer delivery. I guess I get excited that school will be out soon & I over do. Or maybe the choices are just too overwhelming & gorgeous. I don't know what happens to me, but I've ordered so much that as it arrives now, we're scrambling to find places for everything. We're rearranging & squeezing it all in as best we can.
We're exploding with new fabric!

So keep in mind when you walk through the doors this summer & feel that something's a little different - it is! The place is exploding with new stock!
You'll have to stop in & see what we have to entice & inspire you this summer. If you're just looking for a cool place to hang out for a while, come on in & enjoy.
